things are still good in the house. i’ve only had to cut the grass twice. it’s bermuda and now that it’s cold, it doesn’t really grow.
we’re finally in our new home. closed on it last thursday.
we got back late tuesday night from vacation. back to work.
we should be in our house within a month, or so they tell us. we locked in a rate yesterday.
we’re in florida for a week. destin. it’s nice. spent the day at the beach. threw some friz for a while in the sand and then moved to the water. then we just relaxed. i got a headache after a while. i’m not used to being in the sun for long periods. i went back to the villa for a little while then returned and we ate at the whale’s tail. it’s a restaurant there on the beach. i had a shrimp poboy. it was stinking good.
we’re in mobile for a visit. i’ve got a four day weekend because of memorial day. nice. i don’t have to be back to work until tuesday night at seven. i was up for 30 hours before going to bed last night because i worked the night before and then we came to mobile as soon as i got off. i couldn’t sleep in the car. too cramped.
i’ve got a new favorite author. his name is clive cussler. i know he’s been around for quite some time, but i’ve only recently discovered him. i’ve actually seen his name a lot, but never read one of his books until earlier this year. i just finished my third by him a few minutes ago.
i’ve taken up german. i tried to a few years ago, but only for a hundred words or so, then it fell by the wayside. this time, though, i started studying it after reading a robert ludlum book and wishing i could understand the german in it. it turns out i like it a whole lot. i’ve studied french, japanese and spanish and now german for some reason is coming very rapidly into my brain. maybe it’s because i’m used to studying languages now and i have a system i use, i don’t know. it hasn’t even been three weeks and i already know almost 500 words and phrases. and the grammar, even with the three genders and all the changing endings of articles, adjectives and plural nouns, is coming to me easier.
we’ll see if i can stick with this one through to fluency instead of the on and off again relationship i’ve had with the other three, especially french.
i went rafting for the first time in my life down the ocoee river. not just my first time ever down the ocoee. my first time ever. we went with eagle adventures. it was quite an enjoyable experience.
i got back from vacation last sunday at 11:45pm.
i started my current job a year ago today.
i got directv a couple of days ago. i like.
i’m going on a week-long vacation starting this sunday. florida. the beach.
my dog, jean, turned two years old ten days ago.
so i’ve discovered something called hdr (high dynamic range) photography. it’s stinking awesome. i just need a tripod so i don’t have to use my kitchen stool or anything nearby that i can steady my camera on.
candace and i went to the atlanta zoo yesterday. it was my first time at the zoo in atlanta. it was fun. we tried to go the other day, but it was supposed to rain, which of course it didn’t until like 5pm, but this was a better day anyway. it was perfect shorts and flops weather. and i finally got to experiment with my D50. of course, i saw a guy there with a D200 and a massive telescopic lens. i was a little jealous with my poor little 18-55 lens. you really need to be able to zoom quite a bit to hope to get any good shots of most of the big animals at the zoo.
